Connecticut Wine Trail
With many locations across Connecticut this is a fun and affordable activity for anyone over 21. Depending on your location and how far you want to venture there is sure to be a vineyard near by.
Memorial day a few of us went on a wine tasting to Wallingford, CT where two vineyards are located- Gouveia and Paradise Hills. We began at Paradise Hills Vineyard where we tasted six wines for $9. Our hostess was very knowledgeable about the wines and gave us nice background on flavors and smells each wine would have.
The tasting room at Paradise Hills was a nice size. The bar fit up to four parties of tasters- each party had 2 to 5 people. There are plenty of tables and chairs to sit and relax inside and outside. Our group thought a head and packed a nice picnic lunch which we enjoyed with one of the wines we enjoyed. There is plenty of parking on a gravel lot.
Next on the tour was Gouveia only a few minutes down the road. When we arrived, the parking lot was very full and the tasting room had a fifteen minute wait. For eight dollars we tasted five wines and received a free glass. The location has many places to sit inside and outside to enjoy a nice glass of wine. The view at Gouveia is one to remember. The vineyard sits on top of a large hill. On a clear day visitors can view all the way to Farmington.
